Sara + Daniel tied the knot back in August but I’m just now getting to show them some blog love. You guys have probably seen Sara’s bridal shoot in the previous post so you already know how beautiful she is. If their engagement shoot was any indication of how fun and sweet their wedding would be, then I was in for some fun! I can not even say enough about Sara and Daniel – they are real, amazing, genuine, honest, loving, and passionate people. Sara is a photographer too. She shoots with me on occasion and I couldn’t ask for anyone with a more perfect fit for my style and personality. She’s awesome ya’ll. Daniel, you are pretty rad too. Yeah, I said rad, believe it.
Their day was full of lots of scenery changes as we hopped from the hotel, to the church, to the reception venue and I was loving it all! Special thanks to Mark C. Austin who shot with me for a part of the day – you rock something awesome. Okay, now stop reading and go check out these two lovelies!
You know I always start with my favorite from the day….

Mark snapped the top two of the church shots in this set – beautiful full church shot & close up of Sara & Daniel – love it.

What a cutie patootie!!

It is always so difficult waiting to post bridal shoots! It’s hard keeping a secret, but way worth it. Luckily I didn’t have to wait long to post Sara – their wedding was last weekend and we just did her bridals a few weeks ago. Of course we had grand plans to do the shoot in the courtyard at the church where her and Daniel were to be married; however, we were kicked and locked out before we got past the front doors! Sara’s the kind of girl who goes with the flow though, and we had a backup plan. To quote my dad from one of his life mantras, “gotta have a plan B, Holly.” After seeing the final images, I think our “plan B” totally rocked. Sara is beautiful, fun, and way cool to hang out with so we took our time and even managed to squeak in a glass of wine between photo ops. Sara’s mom came along too and wow, was she great! Get ready for their wedding post coming soon!
Fabulous Makeup By: Sari Motley – Check her out ya’ll: www.sarimotley.com
This was Sara and my favorite of the day, so I’m posting it first! Isn’t she just gorgeous!?!

Back in January I got the opportunity to meet Danya & Abed and photograph their engagement party. It was so much fun and I couldn’t imagine what the wedding would be like since everyone pretty much danced their feet off that night! Their family is so full of love and so proud to have Danya & Abed in their lives. I can’t say that I always remember the Best Man and Maid of Honor’s speeches to every wedding I go to (because that would be border line scary if I had a memory that good) but I do remember what Danya’s Maid of Honor said about her and it stuck in my mind so clearly. She told a story about Danya and her during the hurricane last year (and I won’t recount the entire thing!) but basically she said that Danya is the type of person that will do anything, for anyone, anytime and she won’t complain for one second about it. The reason I remember it so well is that over the course of this past year getting to know Danya and Abed, I have come to realize that they are these kind of people all the time – not just one time, in one circumstance, in one story. I feel blessed to have gotten to know them and honored to have been part of their day. Thank you also to Sara, who second shot with me. I’ll post some of her pics from the wedding soon too! Enjoy the preview…..

Everyone met up at Danya’s house first as she finished getting ready – her dad and sister almost brought me to tears too after Danya came down the stairs.

They had a dance troupe come in and it was so much fun to watch them perform. Not to mention the music was AWESOME.

You guys know that I have no problem at all completey raving about vendors, fabulous finds and wonderful experiences. This past weekend I got to go bridal dress shopping with my sister. She just got engaged recently and I am so excited for them. I love weddings anyway, but when it comes to family, it is extra fun and exciting.
One of the places we went, the only place we ended up going to actually, was Marry Go Round. It is a FABULOUS an unique bridal boutique off West Gray. They are a full service consignment boutique specializing in new, sample, and gently worn wedding gowns. I had no idea what to expect other than the fact that I had no inkling of what we might find. About 2 hours later, we walked out with a BEAUTIFUL gown and veil that absolutely is perfect on my sis. Not to mention that it was within her budget. Total props to Madeline, co-owner of the shop with her mom Judy. SHE IS THE BEST. And I don’t use all caps for nothing people! She is so patient, kind, and truley knows what looks good on every type of person. And you know, with me, my mom, and my sister barreling in there like a 3 ring circus, she’s got to be good. We always sing that little circus diddy - Entrance of the Gladiators MIDI sort of like a warning signal to anyone around that we are a little crazy together so watch out. Yeah, we’re weird.
So, all of you soon-to-be Mrs. out there, if you are looking (or know someone who is) for an amazing gown with a great price tag and the best selection of different styles anywhere in Houston, head over to Marry Go Round at 719 West Gray. Check out their website – www.marrygoroundbridal.com and be sure to meet Madeline when you go. Thank you Madeline for a wonderful experience, beautiful gown, and helping us to find something in our budget.
And because I can’t post without some sort of picture — Here’s a preview of their space that you will see
when you go to their website – It is so cute!

Meeting with Margarita and Paul the first time, I was instantly drawn to their very down to earth, easy to talk to personalities. Margarita is the sweetest thing and you can just feel how much she loves Paul every time they look at each other. Paul is a police officer in Houston and man the stories he can tell. Oh, and he is very adorable with Margarita. Sorry, Paul, I know the tough guy persona that comes with being a defender of our great city, but it’s not like you can hide it very well when you two are together
Their wedding is coming up in October and they have some pretty cool ideas they are going to be implementing into their celebration. Here are a few images from their engagement shoot that I love.

Why yes – that is Paul on one knee proposing with a pine cone. Serious love here people.

This week I got to shoot some headshots of some fabulous ladies all of which are part of the non-profit organization Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas. They are having their swearing in ceremony next week so I will get to be a part of documenting that and also the reception after. They are a really fun group of ladies who all work really hard to promote diverse women in public, corporate, and civic arenas. I don’t get the chance to do a lot of group work with organizations in capacities like this so it was a treat to be able to break away and do something different. How cool is it to be a part of such an empowered group of women? Way cool. Check them out.

Not too long ago, well probably a few weeks ago, (i’ve been super bad at getting these blogged in a timely manner) Katie and I met up for a totally artsy fun shoot. I REALLY need to do this more often. It was an interesting day. I think Katie will agree. Everything started normal. I arrived on a Sunday morning, very early to get a jump on the day thinking we would get some great morning sunlight. Yeah, not so much. It was pretty overcast which actually is one of my favorite types of light to take pictures in so it was all good. We were both super excited about our adventures we were about to embark on so we hit the street. We got the first set done and decided to go back to Katie’s for a wardrobe change. And this is where the fun starts. We brainstormed a bit about where we were going to go next and decided to take a few quick pictures there at her place. Very cute place I might add.
Fast forward through a few frames at which point I said, “Hey, cool mantle lets do something on that!”. Or was it, “Katie, you have to get on the mantle for me!”? I don’t remember those tinsy details but whichever way I “suggested” it she agreed. I barely got to get a few shots in, although it seemed like an eternity that she was up there (most of which time was spent luring Skitz, her kitty, up onto the mantle too – which he eventually did join in the fun). Just as Skitz jumped to the floor, I think cats must have sixth sense or something, the entire mantle along with Katie and her uber cute coffee cup came crashing to the ground. Insert *laughter* here. I was so confused, I didn’t know if I was supposed to laugh or cry. Cry now laugh later maybe because we ended up spending most of the rest of the afternoon battling with nailing, caulking, painting, piecing and sanding everything back together. As a side note, the mantle was very poorly attached to begin with – only 2 nails holding it on and about 5 layers of paint. Yes, she does have landlords that might wonder why their mantle mysteriously fell off the face of the fire place, and honestly, rather than trying to explain that one, we opted for the “make it look like it never happened” choice. And before you ask, no, I did not capture the fall in mid air. It’s kinda like when crazy Aunt LuLu, while doing the chicken dance at your reception, trips backward into the lead singer of the band – there are just some things I won’t take pictures of and embarrassing moments that may result in injury are some of them. So, we have one after picture and one after-after picture when it was restored back to its original condition (hours later that same day). That’s the story my friends. Walking into her apartment that morning, Katie says to me, “Oh Holly, by the way, I’m a bit clumsy and chaos usually follows me.” Yes, I get it now.
Katie - You were awesome, look completely beautiful and thanks for giving me another story to tell.

And last but not least, I had to post the only two shots I have from the whole affair. Katie has the post-repair pic so….it basically looks just like it was before. Yeah, that’s right. We’re that good.
